Remember those cherished memories of the summers you spent with your grandparents as a child? Every day seemed to be a little slower-paced than the rest of the year, filled with smells of baking, sounds of laughter and the click of your grandmothers knitting needles, and an overall feeling joy. The one image that stands out among all others: your grandparents  the morning or evening, side by side, him drinking his coffee, her knitting a blanket, scarf or hat, both in their Amish rockers.

Your favorite time of the day was when both of them were there, in their chairs, telling stories of how they met during the war, stories about your mom when she was your age. You would sit between them in your own Amish rocker, sipping ice-cold milk and nibbling one of Nana's oatmeal bars. The smooth curves of the chair were like a huge hand holding you.

Perhaps your grandmother had knitted two pillows; one for the seat and another for the back, and you would snuggle against them and wait to fall asleep to the sound of their voices.
